The High School Years Expansion Pack makes playing with teenage Sims much more engaging. Along with attending school and earning good grades, your teen Sim will navigate friendships, after-school activities, and all the ups and downs of growing up.
One of the biggest additions is teenage romance. Your Sim can develop their first crush, start dating, and experience a variety of romantic interactions that are exclusive to teens.

Teen Romantic Interactions in The Sims 4
Teenage Sims have access to a wide range of romantic interactions in The Sims 4. They can flirt, kiss, mess around, exchange promise rings, and much more as long as both Sims are teenagers.
One of the most unique interactions is Exchange Promise Rings. When two teen Sims exchange promise rings, they pledge to stay together and continue their relationship after they become Young Adults.

How Aging Up Affects Teen Romantic Interactions
If two teen Sims are in a romantic relationship and one of them ages up, romantic interactions disappear.
If one Sim ages up before the other, they can no longer perform romantic interactions. Although their relationship is preserved, the game temporarily disables options such as flirting, kissing, and other romantic actions.
Once the younger Sim ages up to a Young Adult, all romantic interactions become available again, allowing the couple to continue their relationship as before.
Messing Around
Teenage Sims cannot woohoo in The Sims 4. This interaction is not available for this age group. However, they can mess around fully clothed.
When you select the Mess Around interaction, the game will play the same animation as woohoo, allowing teen Sims to smooch under the covers. Rest assured, they’ll keep their clothes on.
Messing Around is not the same as WooHoo in The Sims 4. When you select the “Mess Around” interaction, you basically tell Sims to smooch.
They remain fully clothed when messing around. Think of messing around as a more experimental stage of woohoo.
Why Your Teen Sim Only Has One Romance Option
If your teen Sim only has the “Give Romantic Gift” interaction available, the other teen may not be romantically interested in them.
In recent updates, The Sims 4 introduced Romantic Interests. These preferences determine who a Sim is attracted to and which romance interactions are available.
For example, the other Sim may:
- Be romantically interested in a different gender.
- Have no romantic interest in anyone.
- Still be “figuring things out,” meaning their romantic preferences haven’t been fully established yet.
Even if your teen Sims have a high friendship level, romance interactions may not appear if their romantic preferences aren’t compatible.
To find out, open the other Sim’s Sim Profile(if you’ve learned enough about them) and check their romantic interests. If they aren’t compatible, you’ll need to find your teen Sim a different love interest.
Can a Teenage Sim Get Pregnant in The Sims 4?
Teenage Sims cannot get pregnant in The Sims 4. They cannot woohoo, which means there’s no way they could technically get pregnant. They can’t use the “Try for Baby” interaction.
However, if you really wish to experience more drama in your game, you can use mods to get the job done.
Can Teenage Sims flirt with Adults?
Teenage Sims cannot flirt with adult Sims in The Sims 4. There are no romantic interactions between teens and adult Sims.
To unlock these options, you need to age up your teenage Sim. They can access additional romantic interactions and flirt with adults after becoming young adults.
Can Teens Kiss in The Sims 4?
Teen Sims can kiss in The Sims 4. They can perform many romantic interactions, and kissing is one of them. However, they can’t woohoo or get pregnant.
They need to become young adults to unlock these types of interactions.
Can Teenage Sims Get Married in The Sims 4?
Teenage Sims can’t get married in The Sims 4, but they can exchange Promise Rings. This means they promise each other to become a couple and marry once they age up into adults.
Only young adults, adults, and elders can marry.
