Sims 4: The smallest house & how to build micro houses

Sims-4-smallest-house

Many Simmers, myself included, are big fans of the tiny house movement. There are plenty of tiny houses available in the Gallery.

But how small can you build exactly? Let’s find out!

What’s the smallest house in The Sims 4?

The smallest house that you can build in The Sims 4 is a 2×2 micro house. Despite the extremely small footprint, a 2×2 micro house can be fully functional. You can add a bed, toilet, sink, and fridge to cover your Sim’s needs.

If you want to see what a 2×2 house looks like, check out Simarchy’s video below:

If you’re up for a challenge, go ahead and try to build a 2×3 house in The Sims 4.

However, a 2×2 micro house might be way too small for most Simmers. Truth be told, your Sim will struggle to live in it.

If you want your Sim to live comfortably in a tiny house, you should build a 3×3 house.

Most of my tiny houses have a 3×4 or 4×4 footprint.

How do you build a micro house in The Sims 4?

To build a tiny house or a micro house in The Sims 4, you need to use cheats to downsize household items and make them fit within the house walls.

To size down an object in The Sims 4, click on it to select it, hold down the Shift key and then press the left square bracket key.

Keep pressing the left square bracket key to further size the object down.

Use the 9 and 0 (zero) keys to move objects up and down to optimize the interior design.

You also need to enable the bb.moveobjects cheat. This will help squeeze in everything your Sim needs to survive.

When building a tiny house, make sure to have a Sim around to ensure all the household items are fully functional.

Building a tiny home is not easy. However, the whole process is really fun.

I personally build around 2-3 tiny houses every week in The Sims 4. If I ever decide to move into a tiny house in real life, I’ll definitely use The Sims 4 to design it.

Happy Simming!
