The quickest way to put things in your Sims 4 inventory on a PC is to press the backspace key while holding the item. Simply select the object you want to put into your inventory and press backspace.
Alternatively, you can also drag and drop items to your inventory panel.
If you’re playing The Sims 4 on an Xbox console, select the item you want to place in your household inventory and press X while holding it to move it to your inventory.
If you’re playing The Sims on a PS4 or PS5 console, press the square button to put items in your inventory.
How to manage your inventory in The Sims 4
Keeping too many items in your household inventory, especially high-value items can make bills skyrocket. If you’re constantly getting high bills, maybe it’s time to check your inventory and get rid of all those items that you no longer need to use.
If your Sim is a hoarder, you definitely want to declutter their inventory from time to time.
The best way to get rid of redundant inventory items in The Sims 4 is to sell them and cash in some shiny Simoleons.
How to sell inventory items in The Sims 4
Click on the inventory panel in the lower right-hand corner of the screen to open your Sim’s inventory.
Select the items you want to sell and drag them to the “Drag here to sell” area. Confirm your choice to get rid of the selected item.
You can also select multiple items and sell them in a batch. Go to your inventory, select the stack of items that you want to sell, and drag them to the cash register area.
When asked if you want to sell all the items in the stack, click on the checkmark.
You can also enable Multiselect to select multiple stack items and drag all of them to the cash register area in one go.
Recycle inventory items
If you installed Eco Lifestyle, you can also recycle your inventory items for Bits & Pieces. You can use the Guntdach Home Recycler to get the job done.
You can then use the bits and pieces resulting from crushing down unwanted items to craft new objects. Bits and Pieces are essential raw materials for the Fabricator and the Candle Making table.
You can recycle any objects from your Sim’s personal inventory as well as the family inventory.
And now you know.
