⇒ Natural Living Skill: Perfect for Off-the-Grid Play

The Enchanted by Nature expansion pack adds a 10-level Natural Living skill to the Sims 4. This skill fits great if you enjoy rags-to-riches stories or off-the-grid lifestyles.

It’s ideal for Sims who don’t want a traditional house and want to start fresh with more self-sufficient, nature-based living.

The Natural Living skill is super accessible — even child Sims can start learning it. This means kids aren’t left out of the fun and can get in on the off-the-grid lifestyle from an early age.

How to Build the Natural Living Skill

Sims can build the Natural Living skill by foraging on the ground. Just click on any patch of grass, and Sims will dig around to find all kinds of stuff.

Findings can include:

  • Flowers
  • Herbs
  • Ingredients
  • Furniture

⇒ Fun Fact:

  • Sometimes, Sims can find really expensive items while foraging. You can sell them immediately to get your hands on some extra Simoleons.

You can also forage for collectibles. This includes things like fossils, trophies, and more frogs.

Watch out for stink bugs, though. They’re gross and make Sims smell bad, so a quick shower is a must after running into one while foraging.

What the Natural Living Skill Does

Here’s what Sims can do with the Natural Living skill:

  • Sleep on the ground
  • Bathe in lakes
  • Take sponge baths at public restrooms or the Fairy Hub
  • Summon a privy bush so you can pee anywhere

As Sims level up the skill, they unlock cool new abilities:

  • Level 2: Summon a privy bush to pee behind
  • Level 5: Eat frogs and raw fish
  • Level 6: Talk to nature to fill their social needs

At first, the Natural Living skill is rough—your Sim gets filthy sleeping on the ground, and bathing in open water takes forever. But as the skill improves, they stay cleaner, and the interactions get much quicker.

As you can see, Sims with the Natural Living skill can live alone and still take care of all their needs through nature.

This skill is super fun, especially for Rags to Riches or Legacy challenges. It makes it way easier to live off the land and be self-sufficient, which adds a lot to early gameplay.
