The Sims 4: How to ground a child without hurting their feelings

Grounding is a disciplinary action that Sims can do to punish children’s misbehaviors. This interaction becomes available when you catch a child in the act.

Grounding is a response to misbehaving. It is not something that a Sim parent can do at any time.

You can only do it when your child does something bad.

When a child does something they’re not supposed to do, you can lecture them about that misbehavior.

If they continue to ignore your warnings, you can ground them.

Grounding is an interaction available after reaching Level 5 of the Parenting skill. You have the choice to punish kids right after they misbehaved or not ground them at all.

Grounding lasts 24 hours. If you ground the child for something else, the timer resets.

Each time you ground them, you can take away a different privilege. After 24 hours, lost privileges are restored automatically.

To avoid hurting your kid’s feelings too much when grounding them, use a Friendly or Funny interaction after telling them they’re grounded.

That won’t change their mood but at least you’ll show them you hold no grudge against them.

What grounds can I give to kids in The Sims 4?

Some of the grounds you can give to kids include:

  • No TV
  • No computer
  • No phone
  • No toys or games
  • No leaving the house
  • No friends
  • No music

Think about what your kid likes doing the most. Then take that away from them to punish them for their misbehavior.

⇒ Quick Tip:

If you’re playing a parenting-centric game, you’d better level up your Parenting skill fast. Make that your number one priority.

Having low-level parenting abilities means you’re at loss with your kids.

Happy Simming!
