Freegan is a trait available in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle that makes Sims reject consumerism. Sims with the Freegan trait will gladly reuse thrown-away goods. They enjoy diving for meals and can eat food that’s passed its expiration date.
Freegans are very happy when they manage to reduce spending. They love haggling over the price of things in the market. They can successfully convince other NPCs to lower the prices of the things they’re selling.
Use the Ask for Discount interaction at food stalls to get a lower price.
For example, a Freegan Sim can quickly convince Kim Goldbloom to give them vegetables for a fraction of the price she’d normally sell them for.
Freegans will become tense or uncomfortable if they spend too much money. They’ll get really stressed out if they spend more than 800 Simoleons in one go.
Freegans hate working long hours
Freegans will feel Uncomfortable if they spend too much time working. They’ll get the Corporate Sellout Uncomfortable moodlet when going to work.

Your Sim used to live in a world where Sims didn’t have to work for Simoleons. But then, their Freegan beliefs were abandoned in favor of a steady paycheck. You’ve changed, dude!
Freegans will get this buff even when pursuing a freelancer’s career.
When given the option to go to work or work from home, choose to work from home and your Sim won’t get the Corporate Sellout moodlet.
As you can see, money doesn’t play an important role in their lives. They have a “money is not really needed” attitude.
They don’t see the point in earning or spending too much money as many things can be obtained for free.
Dumpster diving is a lifestyle for Freegans
Freegans can be extremely lucky when it comes to finding valuable items in dumpsters. They’ll find rare items all the time.
I guess rare items are not that rare for them.
They can also use the Dive for Ingredients interaction when dumpster diving. Only Freegans can use this option.
Since Freegans will do a lot of dumpster diving, you may want to get the Slob trait too. Dumpster diving is gross but it has to be done.
You can recycle the items found in dumpsters to get Bits and Pieces and craft new items on the Fabricator.
The Freegan trait conflicts with the following traits: ambitious, foodie, materialistic, squeamish, and snob.
Freegan is the opposite of the Materialistic trait.
