In The Sims 4: For Rent expansion pack, you can evict tenants who fail to pay rent or those who keep on breaking household appliances.
You read that right. If tenants don’t cough up the Simoleons or they’re constantly wrecking the place by busting household gadgets, you’ve got the power to give ’em the boot.
It’s a virtual landlord gig where you play by the rules of the rental game. Non-payment or too much appliance smashing? Show ’em the door.
However, there’s a silver lining: a second chance for those who want to turn things around.
As a landlord, you can change your mind and give tenants a second chance.
If they’re going through some tough stuff in their personal lives, you can even let them stay at your place for free for a while.
If you’re a tenant and the landlord evicts you, you’re suddenly doing an unintended rags-to-riches play-through.
In this pack, you can experience the neighborhood as a property owner or a tenant.
You can either be the one kicking out tenants or the one getting kicked out.
Just and Unjust Evictions
There are two types of evictions in The Sims 4: Just and Unjust.
There’s an important distinction between Just and Unjust Evictions.
Just Evictions carry no repercussions.
Unjust Evictions will harm the Property Owner’s relationship with the tenant, lower the Unit Rating, and potentially lead to an Eviction settlement.
Unjust Evictions often end up costing additional Simoleons for the property owner.
If tenants refuse to pay the fines for breaking the Unit Rules, you can Justly Evict them.
The Fear of Being Evicted
In The Sims 4: For Rent expansion, tenants might face eviction fears if they misbehave or fall behind on rent.
Sims can swiftly feel the eviction jitters, especially when the landlord drops a rent demand or, worse, after getting the boot once.
It’s a quick-trigger fear that adds a touch of urgency to the virtual tenant life.
What Happens When a Household Gets Evicted?
If your active household faces eviction, it might follow a system similar to getting kicked out of dorms in Discovery University. You likely get a designated time to pack up and then it nudges you into the world view to pick a new lot.
For non-active households, eviction probably tosses Sims into the “Not in World” bin. If you enable Neighborhood Stories, you’ll probably hear from them from time to time.
However, keep in mind this is only a hypothesis launched by Simmers. Well, know for sure if this is the case when the expansion launches.
Wrapping It Up
The fact that Sims can now be kicked out by landlords is a first in Sims history. Landlords have the authority to show tenants the door if Simoleons aren’t paid or household gadgets are consistently wrecked. Tenants can experience eviction fears due to misbehavior or after being late on rent.
This expansion allows players to engage with the neighborhood as both property owners and tenants.
