A community space is a lot assignment and a public place where Sims can gather for group activities.
If you want to make new friends, check the latest gossip, or simply travel somewhere outside your lot, visiting a community space is an excellent idea.
How do you use community spaces in The Sims 4?
A community space can be turned into:
- A welcoming community space where Sims can gather together
- A community garden where Sims can grow their own food
- A marketplace where Sims can buy and sell various items or produce
- A maker space where Master Makers can polish their skills
Can you make a community space in The Sims 4?
Any lot can be turned into a community space in The Sims 4. Go to any empty lot and change its tag to community space.
Click on the lot information panel, and select Community Space as the lot type. In the new panel, select one of the four sub-types: community space, marketplace, garden, or maker space.
How do you change a community space in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle?
To change a community space in The Sims 4, you need to vote for a Neighborhood Action Plan that allows you to change the activities that take place there.
You can’t change the current community space type that’s active just by going into Build mode. You need to vote for it to change to another type.
Your Sim needs to be living in the neighborhood where the community space is located. Otherwise, they won’t be allowed to vote.
You can turn community spaces into a common gathering place, a community garden, a marketplace, or a maker space.
The idea that gets the most votes will become enacted.
Community spaces can fulfill only one given role at a time. For example, a community space can’t be a marketplace and a maker space simultaneously.

How do you clean up community space in The Sims 4?
You can clean up community spaces in The Sims 4 by initiating green movements. Vote for NAPs that incentivize the townies to beautify the community spaces and get rid of trash.
The best NAPs to vote for to clean up community spaces are Modern Development and Green Initiative.
How many community spaces are there in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle?
There are three community spaces in The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle:
- The Quarry Building
- Sprucewood Square
- The Waterfront
The Quarry Building
If you’re up for a challenge, you can redesign the Quarry Building and use it as a community space. Give this building a makeover, and use it to host parties, or just hang around with friends.
If you choose to transform this area into a community space, make sure to take advantage of the native Naturall Well trait.
Sprucewood Square
Sprucewood Square used to be a gathering ground for Sims and their loved ones.
The Waterfront
The Waterfront is an old port building that’s waiting for someone to transform it into a thriving place.
If you choose to transform it into a community space, you’ll get the Landfill Lot and Reduce and Recycle lot traits. If you turn this space into a community garden, you’ll get the Eco Lot trait.
