Can you get a roommate in Sims 4 City Living?

Sims-4-City-Living-get-roommates

Roommates came with The Sims 4 Discover University expansion pack. If you don’t have this expansion pack installed, you need to use a workaround to find some roommates for your Sim in City Living.

Well, technically, they won’t be your Sim’s roommates. However, you can convince other Sims to let you spend a lot of time at their residences.

Here’s how you can do this.

How can I get a roommate in Sims 4 City Living?

To get a roommate for your Sim in City Living, you need to first give your Sim the Always Welcome reward trait. You can use cheats to get the job done.

Press Ctrl, Shift, and C to open the Cheat Console. Type in testingcheats true to enable cheat codes. Then, type in traits.equip_trait AlwaysWelcome and hit Enter.

The Always Welcome trait allows your Sim to feel and act more at home at other Sims’ residences. The best part is that the host won’t mind at all.

For example, your Sim can cook, sleep and take showers at other Sims’ residences without any problem.

The next step is to have your Sim visit the lot you want them to live on. Let them live there permanently.

That’s how you can get roommates for your Sim.

You cannot control what the other Sims in the household are doing. The other household members are completely independent.

While this may not be the ideal workaround to get roommates in City Living, it’s the closest thing you’ll get with this expansion.

Thanks, KittyBoutique for the tip!

Get roommates with Discover University

If you want to get real roommates for your Sim, you need to install the Discover University expansion pack.

If you want to get it for cheap, wait until it’s on sale.

Click on your Phone, select your Household, and click on Advertise for Roommate.

Wait for people to respond to your request, get to know them, and hit the “Accept roommate” option when you’ve found the right roommate for your Sim.

Make sure your roommates’ needs are always met. If you fail to do that, they’ll leave.

Happy Simming!
