If you accidentally named two babies the same name in The Sims 4, don’t panic. You can change a child’s name but you need to go through a series of steps to get the job done.
I’ll list them below.
How do I change my baby’s name in The Sims 4?
You can’t change a baby’s name while they’re still a baby. You need to wait until they’re toddlers and then you can take them to CAS and change their name there.
Launch the Sims 4 and select the household you want to play. Don’t click on the Play button.
Instead, click on the three dots to open a new menu. Select the option that allows you to edit your family.
Click on the toddler whose name you want to change. Type in their new name.
Alternatively, you can use cheats to go to CAS straight from your game.
Press Ctrl, Shift, and C, then type in testingcheats on, and hit Enter. Shift-click the toddler whose name you want to change. Select Modify in CAS.
The game will take you to CAS. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen, click on the toddler’s name and change it.
Once again, if your Sim is just a baby, you need to age it up to a toddler and then you can use cheats to go into CAS to change their name.
Should you really change a child’s name in The Sims 4?
Changing a child’s name may not always be a good idea.
For example, let’s say you used the “Discuss expanding the family” interaction and Neighborhood Stories granted a couple a new baby named Brandy. But they already have a son named Brandon.
Would you change the name of the new baby?
Don’t you want a tad of drama? Keep the names and make the kids compete for the attention and affection of their parents.
⇒ Fun Fact:
- Sims can get pregnant and have a baby while enrolled in University.
Happy Simming!
