The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature: Balance and Imbalance

Sims-4-balance-and-imbalance-system

Another new system in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature pack is Balance and Imbalance. Basically this your Sim’s long-term mood, like a running average of all their temporary moods and needs over time.

Sims can be balanced, imbalanced, or neutral. This affects how often they have mood swings and other magical effects.

Balanced Sims

Sims start balanced, which is their normal state. Keeping Sims balanced means taking good care of their needs and moods.

Balanced Sims have steadier emotions and fewer problems. Life is easier for them.

Imbalanced Sims

Imbalanced Sims are more volatile. They get emotional outbursts, attract chaos, suffer more magical mishaps, and get more ailments.

If a Sim stays in a bad mood, has low needs for a while, experiences bad luck, or goes through a big life event like losing someone, they can become imbalanced.

Being imbalanced makes Sims harder to care for. They might need to eat or bathe more often, have worse luck, and learn skills more slowly.

If the imbalance gets really bad, ailments will show up more often, piling on top of everything else.

Neutral Sims

Neutral Sims are stable but walking a fine line. Their needs and moods aren’t great, but they’re not terrible either.

These Sims function normally—they don’t get slowed down by bad luck or slower skill growth.

However, because they aren’t in a great place, they’re closer to tipping into imbalance faster than Sims who are well cared for. If their needs or moods drop more, they can quickly slide into that imbalanced state with all its problems.

So, neutral Sims get by okay for now, but they need attention or they’ll fall into trouble sooner.

How to Fix Imbalance

To fix the imbalance, Sims have a few options. Visiting a naturopath and paying 1,500 simoleons is one way. Another is curing ailments or drinking a Balance Elixir made with the Apothecary skill.

You Can Disable Balance and Imbalance

Balance can be turned off in the pack settings, but this only stops ailments caused by imbalance. Sims can still get ailments from other causes.

Honestly, it feels like just another annoying thing to manage.

Besides, there’s no upside to being very balanced — it only goes downhill from neutral.

It would be better if being very balanced gave some perks, like better luck, faster skill gain, or immunity to ailments. Right now, it’s just about avoiding the bad side, with no real reward for staying balanced.
