Fix The Sims 4: Reset Sim not working

There’s a lifesaving command in The Sims 4 that can help players troubleshoot many glitches and errors affecting their Sims. The command we’re talking about is resetSim.

You can use it in a variety of situation: your Sim freezes and won’t move, your Sim refuses to do anything you’re telling them to do, their traits and characteristics are not manifesting, and much more.

But what do you do when this essential resetSim command won’t work?

Fix Sims 4: Sim Not Found

The most common problem is the Sim Not Found or Sim ID not found error. As if your Sim did not even exist. This often happens when the resetSim * command fails to reset all your Sims.

Here’s what you can do to troubleshoot Sim reset issues.

Fix 1 – Reset the Sim using testingcheats

Write testingcheats true to enable testingcheats
Shift click on the problematic Sim
The reset option should now be visible
Select it to reset your Sim
Turn off testingcheats when you’re done

Fix 2 – Have your Sim go to another lot

For this fix to work, you need to have your Sim travel to another lot on their own. Then get them back to the first lot and check if you can now use the resetSim command. You can repeat this action twice if it does not work the first time.

If you still can’t reset your Sim, close the game, restart your device and start the game again.

Fix 3 – Bring your Sim to the home lot

Keep in mind that this method works only if your Sim went haywire at a place other than your home lot. You also need to have a Household Sim present at the home lot for this solution to work.

Basically, all you need to do is switch control to the Sim at the home lot. Then, bring your problematic Sim to the home lot and everything should work fine now.

Fix 4 – Repair your game

To repair The Sims 4, launch Origin, right-click on The Sims 4 icon and select the repair option. The game client will automatically scan for issues and repair, update or replace any problematic files.
