How to change Xbox Privacy Settings

1. Changing privacy settings on your Xbox account

  1. Sign in to your Xbox
  2. Press the Xbox button on the controller
  3. Navigate to System
  4. Select Settings 
  5. Go to Account
  6. Locate the Privacy & online safety option
  7. Select Xbox Live privacy
  8. Select View details & customize to customize your privacy settings according to your needs.

2. Changing privacy settings for a child’s account on Xbox

You can use these settings to put in place content restrictions for your child’s account. You cam limit their access to certain games, websites and profiles.

  1. Sign in to your Xbox
  2. Navigate to  System
  3. Go to Settings  and then select Account
  4. Select Family settings
  5. Select Manage family members
  6. Select the child account you want to edit
  7. Go to Privacy & online safety
  8. Select View details & customize to edit your child’s Xbox account settings
  9. Save the changes.

3. Manage privacy settings for apps on Xbox

How to allow an app to access your Xbox data

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller
  2. Go to System > Settings > Account
  3. Navigate to Privacy & online safety > App privacy
  4. Tick the check boxes next to your apps to grant them access to your Xbox data.

Of course, if you don’t want certain apps to access your Xbox account data, you need to uncheck the boxes next to the respective apps.

How to allow apps to access data on an Xbox child’s account

  1. Sign in with your adult account
  2. Go to System > Settings > Account > Family settings > Manage family members
  3. Select the child’s gamertag
  4. Nvigate to Privacy & online safety > App privacy to give permissions.
