Error CE-100002-3 may sometimes occur when gamers try to update their PS5 games. It indicates the console failed to update the application. In other words, your PS5 console failed to install the update files necessary for updating your game to a newer version.

How to Fix PS5 Error CE-100002-3

Update your PS5 system software version

As Sony indicates on their support page, the first thing you should do is update the system software to the latest version. Do that and try to update your games again.

Steps to update your PS5 software version:

  1. Navigate to Settings and select System.
  2. Then select System Software.
  3. Go to System Software Update.
  4. Select Update System Software and wait until the console has finished updating.

Move the game back to console storage

  1. Go to Settings and select Extended Storage.
  2. Then select Games and Apps.
  3. Select the problematic game and move it to internal storage.
  4. After you moved the game back to the console storage, check to see if it appears on the internal hard drive.
  5. Return to your home screen. You won’t see the download button now.
  6. Try to launch the game again. You should be able to start it.

Some users said you can then move the game back to extended storage. They confirmed this action did not fire any errors. Check if this method works for you as well.

Delete and reinstall problematic game items

  1. Delete the item that triggered this error. It could be a DLC or a regular game update, it does not matter.
  2. So, after you deleted all the downloads with error CE-100002-3, go to your game library, and select the problematic game.
  3. Then select Options and go to Manage content.
  4. Add the problematic items again and start the game.
