Fix: I Can’t Redeem Steam Gifts
Wait and try again
As the error message suggests, have a little patience and try again. Steam’s servers may be overloaded.
Close Steam, and restart your computer and modem. Wait five minutes and then launch Steam again and try to redeem your gift.
This error may also occur because the Steam community manager might be down. Sometimes, you may need to wait a few hours before being able to redeem your gifts.
If other users complained about the same problem, that’s a clear indication we’re talking about a general issue that Steam needs to take care of as soon as possible.
Is it Tuesday maintenance time?
Steam performs basic maintenance every Tuesday. As a result, the service or certain features may shortly become unavailable. In certain cases, brief outages may occur around 1-3 PM Pacific time.
Long story short, it’s common knowledge that if it’s Tuesday and Steam starts acting up, this is only a temporary issue triggered by routine maintenance. So, there’s nothing to worry about, really. Just wait patiently and try again later.

Contact Steam Support
If you’re still unable to redeem your Steam gifts, go to the gift options and use the option to contact Steam support. It’s located under Purchases.
It may take a while to get a response from Steam Support, but at least you’ll let them know you’re having a problem.
Provide them with as much detail as you can about the user who sent you the gift, what error you got, what troubleshooting methods you tried so far and the results you got.
