In the first section, we listed some general troubleshooting solutions you can use on all platforms. So, if the game freezes or crashes on your PS4, PS5 or Xbox console, you can use our solutions to fix the issue.

If you’re looking for PC fixes, you can scroll down to the second section of this guide.

Commonly used troubleshooting methods

Restart your PC or console

Power cycling your device may help you fix this problem. Turn off your PC or console, unplug the power cord, wait for a couple of minutes and then restart the device

Install the latest game updates and patches

If it’s been a while since you last updated the game, check for updates. Install the latest game patches and check if the game crashes less frequently after that. Keep in mind that the newest game updates also patch many known bugs and glitches affecting Madden NFL. Maybe the latest game version is less prone to freezes and crashes.

Get the latest system software updates

Out of date software may cause various issues, including game freezes and crashes. Make sure to install the latest OS version on your PC. The same goes for your PlayStation and Xbox system software. So, update your PC and console OS, restart your devices and launch the game again.

Check your injured players and cut some

Some gamers said that cutting three injured players worked for them.

  1. Go to Manage from Franchise mode. Click on My Team > Injury Report.
  2. Now go back to Manage.
  3. Cut the same number of players that are available on your injured reserve list.

In other words, if there are three injured players, cut three players from the Preseason roster. To do that, click on them and scroll down to Cut player.
Make sure you have less than 75 players on your roster, including anyone on IR.
