Fix Fortnite Keeps Crashing on PS4

troubleshoot fortnite crash ps4

Many PS4 owners who installed Fortnite on their consoles often experience game crashes. Well, in this quick guide, I’m going to tell you why this happens and what you can do to fix this problem. Let’s dive in!

Why Does Fortnite Keep Crashing on PS4?

Fortnite crashes if certain game files are unavailable on your console. Other common causes include game data corruption, or low storage space.

Fortnite often crashes on PS4 when players try to launch the game. Oftentimes, gamers can’t log in or Fortnite freezes in the lobby. The game often freezes shortly before players enter a match.

However, I also identified one particular situation leading to crashes. It seems that the PS4 cannot handle the Beef Boss properly. As a matter of fact, many gamers confirmed that taking off the Beef Boss skin fixed this issue.

How to Fix Fornite Crashing on PS4?

Method 1: Get rid of the Beef Boss

The quickest way to fix this problem is to go on mobile and change the skin – if you’re using it. It seems that this bug is triggered by the cloth skins on the Beef Boss.

Fortunately, the devs already rolled out a hotfix specifically for this problem, so that should work as well.

Method 2: Free up some space

If your hard drive is not working properly, try to delete some games and other items that you rarely use. This should fix any hard drive sector issues that you may have.

If this method failed to solve the problem, go to the next solution.

Method 3: Check your Internet connection

Slow or faulty Internet connections may also cause your games to crash. Make sure that your console is using a stable connection.

If you’re using a wireless Internet connecting, try switching to a cable connection if possible.

As you probably know, cable connections aren’t affected by as many issues as wireless connections.

Method 4: Fix Fortnite error CE 34878-0

This is another common issue that’s preventing players from enjoying their Fortnite gameplay. Error CE 34878-0 often rears its ugly head when Fortnite crashes.

Luckily for you, I already wrote a post on how to fix error CE 34878-0. Do check out the guide and follow the steps listed there.

Method 5: Reinstall the game

If this issue is due to game data corruption, then uninstalling and reinstalling Fortnite should fix it.

Rest assured, your game progress is saved to your account and you can continue where you left off.

There you go, I really hope that something helps.
