Many PC players have complained they often lose all mouse and keyboard input when joining a game. If they wait for a few seconds, the input comes back only to disappear two minutes later. The worst part about this issue is that gamers lose control over their characters.

To fix the problem, try restarting your computer. If the issue persists, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Keep a key down all the time

Find a key that doesn’t do anything in the game and block it. Use a toothpick to block that key and keep it down all the time. This method works only as long as you keep an input down.

Switch to different ports

First, disconnect all the peripherals connected to your PC. This includes controllers, virtual devices, and other types of input devices.

Then switch your mouse and keyboard to different USB ports. Maybe your currents ports are faulty. Check the results.

Update your mouse and keyboard drivers

Be sure to update your mouse and keyboard to the latest driver version.

  1. Launch the Device Manager.
  2. Expand the list of Keyboards.
  3. Right-click on your keyboard and select Update driver.
  4. Go to Mice and other pointing devices.
  5. Right-click on your mouse and select Update driver.
  6. Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

Reinstall your drivers

If you mouse and keyboard randomly become unresponsive, uninstall your current drivers. Then, restart your computer to automatically install a fresh version of the latest drivers.

  1. Launch the Device Manager.
  2. Expand the list of Keyboards.
  3. Right-click on your keyboard and select Uninstall device.
  4. Go to Mice and other pointing devices.
  5. Right-click on your mouse and select Uninstall device.
  6. Restart your machine.

Disable all background programs

Close all the programs and processes running in the background to make sure nothing’s interfering with Battlefield 2042. Turn off all input programs, and disable pretty much everything.

  1. Open the Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Processes tab.
  3. Right-click on the program you want to close.
  4. Select End task.
  5. Repeat these steps for all the programs you want to close.

Add the game to Exploit Protection settings

Try adding Battlefield 2042 to Exploit Protection settings and making it ignore the Windows default settings.

  1. Click on Search button and type Exploit Protection.
  2. Open the Exploit Protection settings page.
  3. Click on Program Settings.
  4. Add BF2042.exe and under Control Flow Guard.
  5. Click Override system settings and turn it off.
  6. Apply the changes.

Delete igo64.dll file

  1. Exit Origin
  2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin
  3. Delete the igo64.dll file
  4. Restart the computer if the game says the file is in use.

Additional solutions

  • Set Battlefield 2042 to run as admin
  • Disable Origin in-game overlay
  • Disable/enable raw mouse input via Control Panel
  • Use a different mouse and a different keyboard
  • Disable “Future Frame Rendering” in the game graphics settings.
