Elden Ring: How to do a Visceral Attack

Elden-Ring-do-Visceral-Attack

If you want to inflict massive damage to staggering enemies, you can do a Visceral Attack. Elden Ring bosses are strong and staggering them is not an easy task. Always try to exploit their weaknesses. Be merciless and do a Visceral Attack whenever you have the chance.

How do I do a Visceral Attack in Elden Ring?

To do a Visceral Attack, use your charged and jumping attacks to stagger enemies and get the opening. Wait for one second and then press R1 to attack them again targeting the glowing spot. You need to hit that exact spot to get the critical. The game will display a Visceral Attack animation which looks like a backstab.

The key to performing a Visceral Attack in Elden Ring is waiting for a second after staggering your enemies. You need to stop attacking after staggering them.

If you continue to attack, Elden Ring won’t activate the Visceral Attack animation, and you’ll do normal attacks instead. The game thinks you’re simply doing a follow-up to a previous attack.

Waiting for one second after staggering enemies allows Elden Ring to register the window and trigger the Visceral Attack animation.

In other words, you need to wait for enemies to finish slumping down or whatever they’re doing when staggered. Spamming your light attack won’t trigger the Visceral Attack animation.

Enemies usually have a big glowing spot after you stagger them. That’s the spot you need to hit to do a Visceral Attack.

Staggering enemies are vulnerable only for a short period of time. You need to act fast and seize your window of opportunity when it arises.

Some enemies are immune to Visceral Attacks

Some enemies can’t be critically hit even if they stagger. They’re immune to Visceral Attacks.

If they don’t have a glowing spot and you can’t seem to do a Visceral Attack no matter what you do, this indicates the attack doesn’t work on them.

And now you know.
