Elden Ring: How to get to Altus Plateau without the lift

Elden-Ring-get-to-Altus-Plateau-without-lift

Most Elden Ring players use the Grand Lift of Dectus to reach Altus Plateau. The catch is that you need to collect the two halves of the Dectus Medallion first in order to use the lift. But what if you don’t want to use the lift to go to the Altus Plateau? Is there an alternative method or path that you can use? Let’s find out!

How can I get to Altus Plateau without using the lift?

To reach Altus Plateau without the lift, go to the Ravine-Veiled Village in the northern part of Liurnia of the Lakes. Activate the Ravine Site, and go to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice area. Climb up the ladders until you reach the top of the scaffolding. Enter the cave where the Magma Wyrm Makar boss lives. Defeat the boss and step out through the other side of the room to reach Altus Plateau.

Don’t let the ladders scare you away. You have a lot of ladder climbing to do. Keep on climbing up the ladders until you reach the top. Then, locate the fog gate, and enter the cave. That’s the place where you need to defeat the Magma Wyrm Makar boss.

Theoretically, you can reach Altus Plateau within 30 minutes of start. However, killing the Magma Wyrm without leveling up is going to be extremely difficult. Make sure to clear all the caves in the area to upgrade your weapons.

The Ruin-Strewn Precipice climb is definitely more challenging that simply using the Grand Lift of Dectus. But if you’re ready to take on the
Magma Wyrm Makar boss early, feel free to go for this path.

There’s a second method to reach the Altus Plateau without using the lift. This method involves using the water wheel instead. Have you used it already? Let me know in the comments below.
