If you’re on this page, you probably got an alert that says your Xbox account is already linked to an EA account. This notification pops up on the screen when you try to link a new EA account to your Xbox account.

To check what accounts are connected to your EA account, go to EA’s official webpage and sign into your account. Go to the Connections tab and check what Xbox account is currently linked to your EA account.

If you want to unlink your EA and Xbox accounts, use the Connections tab.

How to unlink your Xbox and EA accounts

⇒ Important Note:

  • Think twice before unlinking your Xbox account from your EA account.
  • Once you unlink your Xbox account to add it to a new EA account, you cannot unlink it again for six months.

If your Xbox account is linked to another EA account, you can’t unlink them unless you verify that EA account.

You need to verify you’re the owner of that EA account to get more details about the current connections.

As EA Support explains, offering details about an EA account to a person that is not the account owner is too much of a security risk.

That’s not the only limitation when it comes to unlinking your Xbox account from your EA account.

According to EA:

You can unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account if you want to link them to a different EA Account, as long as that EA Account has never had the same account type linked to it before in its lifetime.

That means if you unlink an Xbox gamertag from your EA Account, you can’t link a different Xbox gamertag to it in the future.

By unlinking your accounts, you risk losing games and game progress, DLCs, add-ons, memberships, subscriptions, and in-game purchases.

If you link your Xbox account back to your original EA Account, you may be able to get access to your old stuff provided that you still can access the account.

Unlinking your accounts is a risky choice. Think twice before hitting the Change button.
