If you’re new to Darwin Project, you should have a clear strategy of what your first in-game actions should be. You should have a clear map of all the steps to follow and all the tools and resources you need before entering the game. The other inmates will have no mercy on you, so you need to do everything you can to make sure you increase your survival chances.
To start off, you should first complete the tutorial guides so as to get the Hook at the end of the final task. This tool will come in handy as it allows you to pull your enemies to you.
The game throws you into the freezing Northern Canadian Rockies where you’re very vulnerable. You need to start crafting as soon as possible if you want to stay alive.
What should I craft first in Darwin Project? The first items that Darwin Project gamers should craft are arrows and armor. Get the arrows first, then go for a kill, and after your first kill, make sure to craft your armor.
This is a battle royale game where everyone is out to get you. You need to be able to defend yourself -hence the armor- as well as attack other inmates.
Then you should get the speed boots. As their name suggest, they’ll make you faster in combat and will also speed up farming. Don’t worry about your cloak when you first join the game, you can survive with 1 or 2 points in your cloak for quite a long time, so don’t make this a top-priority.
After you make your first kill and you start gathering resources, you can upgrade your cloak to make sure your character is able to maintain an optimal body temperature.
So, the first three items you need to craft in Darwin Project are arrows, boots and armor.
Get the hang of the Crafting Wheel
The Crafting Wheel is a central element in the game. It allows you to prepare for what’s to come while you’re still in the Lobby. Since you have very few resources to start with, you need to choose what items you want to create. Prioritization is extremely important at this stage.
As stated above, you need to craft arrows and armor first. Then you can go to the advanced tools and craft some Fire Arrows as you gather more resources.
Hide while crafting
Don’t forget to hide while crafting. Keep in mind that crafting requires a few seconds and players are unable to look around while crafting. This means you’re more vulnerable to attacks when crafting various items.
What’s your strategy? What items do you craft first?
