I bet that you can’t wait to finish work and get back home to play a few good CS:GO rounds on your Mac. Then, all of a sudden a nasty error code appears out of nowhere just when you were about to shoot the last enemy. Or even worse, various errors prevent you from launching the game in the first place.

If you already experienced this scenario, then you know what I’m talking about.

These CS:GO errors on Mac can be quite annoying and troublesome, but you can fix them. We compiled a list of solutions that you can use to fix the most frequent CS:GO macOS errors that you may sometimes encounter when playing this awesome game.

How to Fix CS:GO Errors on Macbook

1. Error: Client needs to be updated

Launch Steam and navigate to the top left bar. Open your account settings, go to Steam preferences and then change the beta participation to Steam beta update. You should now be able to download the update and then launch the game.

2. Error: This game requires OS X version 10.6.7 or higher

This error occurs even if the version that users are running is higher than osX 10.6.7. Many gamers confirmed that reverting to High Sierra fixed the problem.

3. VAC error: You cannot play on secure servers

The VAC error often occurs when players try to connect to the CS:GO official servers. So, if the VAC error is preventing you from playing CS:GO on the official servers, follow the steps listed below to fix it:

  • Try clearing appcache: Navigate to Library > Application support > Steam > delete appcache.
  • Restart your computer and launch the game again.
  • Repair Steam by going to Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > Right-click on the folder > select Repair Folder
  • Clear download cache by going to Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache
  • Verify local files and go to CSGO Library > Right-click on the game folder > go to Properties > select Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.

4. Engine error

If you’re getting the engine error, the following workarounds may help you fix it:

  1. Disable Steam Overlay
  2. Repair Steam (just follow the steps listed for VAC errors)
  3. Update your computer
  4. Free up some space

These are four of the most common Counter-Strike: Global Offensive errors on Mac computers. I really hope something helps.

  1. I am playing on an iMac, Version 12.5.1, 8 GB memory, and intel core i5. Whenever I load into CSGO, everything works out perfectly, up until I queue up for a game. It goes all the way up to initializing world, and then it just stops there. Then the whole game lags my pc, which I for sure KNOW FOR A FACT THAT ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN LIKE THAT. Anyways my friends are playing the game flawlessly on worse computers. Can you please help me fix this problem? Thank you!

  2. I have downloaded Steam and then CS:GO, but every time I try to launch the game, this error shows up
    csgo_osx64 quit unexpectedly.

    What should I do?
