crusader kings 3 facts

Crusader Kings 3 has recently appeared on the radar and we’re sure there are plenty of questions you have about this amazing game. We did the digging work for you and we found a series of interesting and surprising facts about CK3 we’re sure you’re love.

Did you that homosexuals can have children in Crusader Kings 3?

Even if your lead guy likes male company, there are high chances he may decide to hide his true nature and do his duty to the bloodline so as to ensure they’ll have an heir to the throne.

Being gay in Crusader Kings 3 simply means the character is not really interested in the opposite gender. Although this gives you a flat minus percentage chance to having children, it does not mean that’s impossible. A character’s sexual orientation mainly affects who you can seduce, it does not completely cancels their chances of having children.

If you’re lucky and your gay character is also lustful, this adds a fertility percentage bonus which kind of counter balances the fact that being homosexual adds a penalty.

Learning about someone else’s dirty Secret gives you incredible advantages

If your characters gets into a relationship with someone of the same sex and their religion specifically forbids such behavior, that’s a huge Secret that someone else can use as blackmail against you. This also constitutes grounds for imprisonment in certain faiths. So, guard your secrets carefully and trust no one.

Your dumb vassals will often declare war to one another

Obviously, that’s bad for business. You need your vassal to guard your interests and use their resources to fulfil your purposes. You definitely don’t want them to go to war against one another when you’ve got enemies outside of your realm waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

Long story short, you need Absolute Crown Authority (level 4) in order to be able to forbid inner realm wars. You should strive to get High Crown Authority (level 3) as quickly as possible so as to forbid wars outside your own domain. Make that a top priority.

The catch is that you need to be patient, such innovations take a lot of time and you won’t be able to reach that level before the year 1200-1250.

Foolish wars between your vassal is simply something you need to learn to live with. That’s how the world actually worked at that time. The good news is that you’ll be able to prevent such destructive behaviors later in the game.

There will be tons of heresies spreading across your vassals all the time

You just have to learn to deal with it. Once a heresy trend has spread, converting your vassals is going to be really hard work. Make sure to nip such heresies in the bud otherwise they’re kind of impossible to stop afterwards.

In extreme situations, where your kingdom has gone through multiple waves of heresies and catholic fervor is low or, even worse, no one is catholic anymore, create your own heresy. You should be able to control everybody much easier by following this strategy.

Not responding to a call to arms is OK

You don’t really have to respond to every call to arms you get. And trust us, you’ll get plenty. Engage in wars that are absolutely necessary. You don’t want to risk losing your entire army just for the sake of supporting an ally if it’s not really necessary.

Of course, there will be an opinion malus for a few years, -10 for refusing an offensive war, -20 for a defensive war. But the penalty is minimal and won’t even break the alliance.

Update: There’s a new mechanic in place where your ally will force you to either help them later or face penalties if you initially refused to help. There are three possible options you’ll be given: lose a level of renown, lose a chunk of prestige, or accept an ultimatum to help within 12 months.
