Can I beat Elden Ring without Melina?
You cannot beat Elden Ring without accepting Melina’s help. If you refuse her accord, you won’t be able to access Rountable Hold and level up your character. Even if you’re doing a New Game Plus (NG+), you still need Melina to go to Rountable Hold and then get to Fia. If you don’t form an accord with Melina, you cannot enter Lyndell no matter your level, and stats.
After accepting Melina’s offer, she’ll give you the Spectral Steed Whistle which you can use to summon and ride Torrent. She doesn’t show up frequently in the game but when she does, she gives you important information on how to further proceed into the gameplay.
As a given moment, Melina will ask you if you’re ready to commit a Cardinal Sin. You then need to set the Erdtree aflame to progress into the main story. This marks a point of no return in Elden Ring.
Can you beat Elden Ring without Melina dying?
You can beat Elden Ring without Melina dying. You can save Melina. When you need to burn the Erdtree, you can choose to set the tree aflame yourself. In this manner, Melina doesn’t need to burn herself to death and become the kindle that sets the tree on fire.
However, after this moment she’ll get so mad at you that she will disappear. Technically, she’s still alive but you won’t be able to interact with her anymore.
While you can beat Elden Ring without Melina dying, you cannot progress into the main story without accepting her accord. Without Melina, you cannot level up your character or enter Lyndell. As you can see, all roads go to Melina.
