Many Xbox players complained about the game crashing their consoles in the middle of the gameplay.

Server connection issues
Many gamers are still struggling to connect to Battlefield 2042’s servers. They often get all sorts of errors in the process, such as backend server errors, and data loading errors.
I keep getting this message: Unable to load persistence data. Game will return to start menu. Please check your Internet connection, make sure the Platform Client is online and try again.
EA confirmed the “Unable to load persistence data” error is on their end and they’re working on a fix. Meanwhile, hit Retry and attempt to join 2042’s servers again.
DirectX errors
If you’re playing the game on PC, you may sometimes get various DirectX errors.
Game will only load into the main screen to connect to online services and then proceed to crash with the DirectX error.
Try updating your graphics drivers, and check if this quick workaround solves the problem. Additionally, make sure to update your OS to the latest version.
