In Baldur’s Gate 3, your companions are usually your faithful shadow, always sticking close to your character. However, there might be moments when you find your party scattered and your comrades not following you.
Don’t worry, it’s not a bug, but rather a feature you can control. Here’s how to deal with companions who aren’t keeping up.
What Causes Companions to Stop Following You in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 may stop following you after you enable the group separation function, or teleport to an area they can’t reach.
The game has a built-in feature that lets you separate your group members.
If you accidentally activate this function, your party will split up, and your companions won’t follow you anymore.
You can use the ungroup command to intentionally place your companions in different locations, perhaps to keep them safe while stealthily checking things.
If you decide to teleport away from your companions to a location where they can’t see or reach you, your party will naturally split up.
How Do You Fix Companions Not Following in Baldur’s Gate 3?
To fix companions not following you in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can either drag your companions’ portraits together, use fast travel, or enable turn-based mode.
Drag Your Companions’ Portraits Together
On the left side of your screen, you’ll see portraits of your party members. If there’s a gap between them, it means they won’t follow you.
To reunite them, simply drag the portraits close together.
Be sure to be near your companions, or it won’t work.
You can also right-click and select Group for convenience.
Fast Travel
Using the fast travel feature should automatically group your party members when you arrive at your destination.
Give this method a try if your companions are still scattered.
Enable Turn-Based Mode
Another handy trick is to enter turn-based mode.
Make sure to end the turns of those companions who aren’t following you.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your party stays together and your companions never wander off when you need them most in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Enjoy your adventures!
