At first glance, Astarion might come across as intimidating. Romancing him might not be an idea that appeals to you. However, there are ways to melt his heart and make him fall for you.
How to Romance Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3
The key to romancing Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to have a high approval rating with him. To earn Astarion’s approval and pave the way for romance, you should lean towards morally ambiguous decisions.
Astarion strongly believes that altruism and acts of kindness are meant for the weak. If you are mean, authoritative, disrespectful to others, make fun of them, and cause them to suffer, he’ll start to like you.
Align yourself with dark creatures like devils and goblins, treat people cruelly, exert authority over NPCs, and basically be mean to everyone.
Make sure to support his condition. As a bloodlust-driven vampire, show consideration for him and allow him to drink a bit of your blood.
Doing so will instantly increase his approval.
Astarion really values loyalty because of his past. He thinks it’s super important. Whenever you show loyalty and like the idea of it, his approval goes up a lot.
After establishing a sufficiently high approval rating with Astarion, you can complete the quest to rescue the Druid Halsin, and the side-quest Save the Refugee.
After completing these quests, visit your camp, approach Astarion, and invite him to your bedroll when you take a nap for the evening.
Ask him what’s his idea of a little fun when prompted, and enjoy the romance cutscenes that will follow.
Happy gaming!
