Baldur’s Gate 3: What Happens if Astarion Bites Me?

Baldurs-Gate-3-Astarion-bite

If you allow Astarion to bite you in Baldur’s Gate 3, your relationship with him will improve, and it will make it easier for your character to have a romantic connection with him later in the game.

In rare cases, letting Astarion drink your blood might result in your character’s death. However, the chances of this happening are very low.

You’ll have two chances to prevent him from drinking your blood, and you’ll need to roll a die to pass those checks. If you succeed, you’ll only take a small amount of damage.

If you fail to stop Astarion from drinking your blood during those two opportunities, your character will die. You can then control another member of your party.

But don’t worry, your character isn’t permanently gone. You can use a Scroll of Revivify to bring them back to life with just one hit point.

It’s the same Scroll of Revivify that you can use to bring Gale back from the dead.

When Astarion drinks your blood, he gains the Vampire Bite action.

This extra action lets him drink the blood of a living creature to regain 2d4 hit points. The targeted creature will take 2d4 Piercing damage.

It’s worth mentioning that this is a surefire bonus action, so it never misses, making it a valuable ability for him.

Should I Let Astarion Drink My Blood in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You should let Astarion bite you in Baldur’s Gate 3 because this increases your approval rating with him and grants him a valuable bonus action in combat.

Doing so will instantly increase his approval making it easier for you to build a romantic relationship with him.

While there’s a small risk of your character dying if you don’t stop him from drinking your blood during certain opportunities, you can revive your character using a Scroll of Revivify.

The benefits of the bonus action and the ease of revival make it a favorable choice to let Astarion bite you in the game.

What Happens if I  Don’t Let Astarion Drink My Blood in Baldur’s Gate 3?

If you don’t let Astarion have a sip of your blood in Baldur’s Gate 3, your relationship approval with him will decrease.

He’ll then hunt a wild animal, drink its blood instead, and still unlock the Vampire Bite action.

Can You Become a Vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You cannot become a vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3 by letting Astarion bite you. Astarion is a vampire spawn, and lacks the ability to turn someone into a vampire by drinking their blood. Only a true vampire possesses that capability.
