How to Use Google Stadia Controller on PC

connect google stadia controller pc

Google Stadia’s controller is fully compatible with PCs over a wireless connection. You can use the controller to convey exact controls on your computer and enjoy your favorite games.

This means that you no longer need to use a USB-C cable in order to connect your Stadia controller to your laptop or desktop computer.

Steps to connect your Stadia Controller to PC or laptop

  • Step 1 – Navigate to the stadia.google.com webpage
  • Step 2 – Select the controller icon
  • Step 3 – Hold down the Stadia button on your Controller
  • Step 4 – Release it when it vibrates
  • Step 5 – Enter the required linking code in the Stadia browser app.

Wait until the code is recognized. This might take up to 30 seconds. Don’t do anything during all this time, don’t press any buttons. And especially, don’t try to reset your controller thinking the connection failed.

Important Notes:

  • Double check the linking code to make sure you’re using the right code. If you entered the wrong code, wait until the controller flashed white and then enter the right code.
  • Use the same Wi-Fi network. Make sure your Google Stadia controller and your PC or laptop are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Don’t use a shared Internet connection. Your Stadia controller won’t work on shared networks, such as those used in cafés or hotels.

Keep in mind that your Google Stadia controller might not work on all the devices you’re playing on. Older Windows PC or MacBooks may not fully support the controller according to some users.

Stadia controller support on mobile devices

Stadia wireless controller support is currently not officially available on mobile devices although some users suggested that was possible through the browser. The good news is that Google is planning to add this feature some time in the future.

Wireless play with the Stadia Controller on phones is currently unavailable, but we’re working on adding this feature.

And now you know.
