What is Twitch Hosting? Twitch Host Mode is a feature that allows users to host the live broadcast of another streamer on their channel page. By using Host Mode, you can continue to chat with your viewers because this feature does not change your chat room.
So, your audience can continue to interact with you in your chat room while watching another channel’s content.
How Do You Unhost on Twitch?
You can host another Twitch streamer using one of these three ways: by chat, via the Twitch app, or via auto host.
- To unhost someone that you started hosting by chat, simply enter /unhost into your channel chat. You don’t need to type a username or the channel’s name when you’re using /unhost. Simply typing /unhost (space) works.
- To unhost a channel that you’re hosting via the Twitch app, tap the gear icon on the respective channel and select Unhost from the drop-down menu.
- To unhost someone via auto host, navigate to your Twitch Channel Settings, go to auto host, and remove the Twitch channel(s) you no longer wish to host.
What Are The Disadvantages of Hosting Another Channel on Twitch?
- The content might not be suitable for your audience. Sometimes, the hosted channels might broadcast content that does not appeal to your core audience. Maybe they’re expecting to watch family-friendly gameplays but instead they get to watch gore and violence ridden titles.
- That’s not actually the best option to keep your channel active. Many Twitch streamers decide to host other channels in order to keep their own channels active while they’re not actively broadcasting. But Twitch’s VOD is a much better option to keep your audience engaged even when you’re not online. In this manner, you can use your own content to keep your channel active.
⇒ Good to know
- Twitch users can host one channel at a time, and up to three channels in a 30 minute period.
