Here’s what caused it. My eyesight is going so I went into Settings-Accessibility-Text Size and increased it by two clicks. The next time I opened Twitch my Followed Channels (left side panel) were just icons. Everything I tried from within Twitch didn’t work. Then, for no good reason, I went back and changed my Text Size back to “normal”, i.e. what it used to be. Eureka!! My Followed Channels full text descriptions reappeared like magic. To test this ‘fix’ I opened Accessibility settings on one monitor and had Twitch running on my other monitor. As soon as I increased Text Size I immediately saw Followed Channels change to icons only. I reduced Text Size to normal and watched my Followed Channels display full text descriptions.
