If you’re a Twitch user and you log in to the platform from a new device that the service does not recognize, you need to enter a 6-digit login verification code.
Twitch sends you a six-character New Device/Location Verification code via email if you haven’t enabled 2-Factor Authentication.
However, many users have complained about not receiving the six-digit verification code from Twitch or, if they did receive it, finding that the code did not work.
If you find yourself in the same situation, this guide should prove useful
Fix Twitch Not Sending Verification Code
Fix 1 – Check the spam folder
Your Twitch verification code expires in 10 minutes, but many users have complained that it takes more than 20 minutes for the code to appear.
If more than a couple of minutes have passed since Twitch confirmed they had sent the code, and you still have not received it, please check your spam folder as it might have accidentally landed there.
Alternatively, you can select the ‘Resend code’ button on the login screen to request a new verification code.
According to Twitch, the verification code is only sent to the verified email address linked to your account.
If you still haven’t received the code, double-check your email filters, including spam and other folders, and ensure that your mailbox isn’t full.
Additionally, consider whitelisting no-reply@twitch.tv to prevent your email provider from blocking it
Fix 2 – Update your Twitch app
If you did receive the code but there is no prompt to enter it on your phone, please update your Twitch app.
Please note that older versions of the Twitch app do not support New Device/Location Verification codes.
Older app versions do not provide access to the latest Twitch features.
Fix 3 – Enable 2FA
If you still have access to the device you previously used to log in to Twitch, go ahead and enable Two-Factor Authentication on your Twitch account for added security.
You’ll get the verification code in a handful of seconds.
Fix 4 – Turn off your pop-up blocker
If you use a popup blocker, the captcha may not clear, preventing Twitch from sending you any code.
If you requested the code from your browser, we also suggest temporarily disabling all browser extensions until you receive and enter the code.
You can re-enable your extensions after the platform has accepted your verification code.
If you find yourself locked out of your account, please contact Twitch support.
