EA Origin may sometimes throw an annoying error message saying that “Too many computers have accessed this account’s version of DisplayName“. In other words, you used your Origin account on multiple devices and it got stuck on one of them. It seems that this error is prevalent for GeForce Now users.
Why does Origin say that too many computers have accessed this account?
Origin has a security measure in place that detects when the client is used on different computers. With GeForce Now, you are using a different computer for each session. Origin’s security algorithms limit how many different computers you can use during a given period.
According to Nvidia, free users are more likely to experience this error since they need to start a new session every hour. On the other hand, paid membership users rarely receive this error. However, if you start a lot of sessions in a single day, you’ll eventually get this error too.
Keep in mind that every time you start a session in GeForce Now, that adds to the number of total sessions you’re allowed to start. If you reach the session limit for a given amount of time, Origin will throw that error message. Usually, you need to wait for 24 hours (more or less) before you can use your account again.
The good news is that there are a few possible solutions you can try to fix this error.
How do I fix too many computers have accessed this account on Origin?
Fix 1 – Verify your login
- Login to your EA account.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Click on Login Verification.
- Choose your email, phone number, or other communication options.
- EA will then send you a verification code to your preferred communication option.
- Then, you need to enter the code in the login box.
- Once your login has been verified, login through GeForce Now again.
- Verify again, and the error should be gone now.
The catch is that you’ll need to verify each login for this method to work.
Fix 2 – Log out from all your devices
If you use the same Origin account on multiple devices, log out and then disconnect your devices for two or three hours. Check if the error is gone.
Fix 3 – Re-add trusted devices
You may occasionally need to remove trusted device and add them again. Go to your EA account, click on Security, and go to Trusted devices. Select Remove trusted devices, restart the client and add your device again.
The wait shouldn’t be that long if you clear your trusted devices from the Origin website.
Fix 4- Wait 24 hours
If nothing is working, you need to wait for 24 hours for the counter to reset. You should then be able to play on the locked account again. We suggest trying again every 3 or 4 hours. Maybe you don’t have to wait for 24 hours after all.
