There is a time in every Sim’s life when they reach elderhood. This is when things begin to change rapidly and you’ll notice all kinds of changes: your Sim gets tired faster, their physical appearance changes and they can’t do a series of things. After all, this is the seventh, and, well, the final life stage of your Sims.
Speaking of which, in this guide we’ll explore some of the most important and surprising things elder Sims can no longer do. Let’s dive right in.
Sims can’t do all these things once they reached elderhood
1. Old Sims can no longer perform heavy tasks. This will get them exhausted in no time.
2. Elders can’t woohoo several times in a row without getting extremely exhausted. As a matter of fact, making your elder Sim woohoo for too long can get them killed. Yup, if they continue doing the same vigorous activity after the Dangerously tired moodled appeared on the screen, they will die of overexertion.
3. Female Sims can no longer become pregnant — but that was to be expected, wasn’t it? However, elder male Sims can still successfully impregnate young female Sims.
4. Older Sims can no longer walk or run fast. The Energy meter will go down in a blink.
5. They can’t wear the same things they used to when they were younger. This becomes more obvious for elder female Sims. Players may notice some clothes items are no longer available once their Sims have aged up.
6. Elder Sims won’t take advantage of Night on the Town events and free food and drinks. You’ll often see a message indicating your Sims ignored the respective tradition because they’re elders now.
These are the main changes you should expect after your Sims reached elderhood. On a side note, if you add the Mean trait to your old Sim, they will harass other Sims whenever they get the chance. Older Sims already have this tendency to harass others but if you add the Mean trait, they will target everybody.

It’s so annoying that elder Sims ALWAYS grimace, groan, and contort their bodies as though in pain. It actually makes me angry. It’s a stupid stereotype. I’ve got relatives in their 80s still going strong and some have more energy than me!
Good point! We need to change society’s paradigm of old age. EA really needs to change the way elder Sims move and behave. I’d personally love to see some senior hipster vibes in the game.
