The Sims 4: Are vampire-mermaid hybrids supported?

vampire mermaid hybrid the sims 4

When it comes to questions about hybrid Sims, perhaps the most comment one is related to the possibility of creating a vampire-mermaid hybrid. In this guide, I’ll answer all your questions about vampires and mermaids.

Can a mermaid be a vampire in The Sims 4? The Sims 4 does not support hybrids and cross-breeding. If a mermaid and a vampire pair, the child will not be a cross of the two. It will be inclined to be one or the other and will not inherit traits from both the parents. Gamers can indeed create vampire-mermaid hybrids but the result will be a buggy Sim.

Hybrids are broken in The Sims 4 because the game does not support cross-breed life states. The best solution is to avoid creating hybrids in the first place. Broken Sims often lead to game file corruption issues and various game glitches.

If you try to create hybrids, they will be broken because the game UI cannot handle mixed features. Gamers who attempted to create vampire-mermaid hybrids reported they had the abilities of both, meaning the vampire energy and hydration needs but the game didn’t show them as hybrids. The game UI would show them as mermaids without any access to vampire points or powers.

Things are also a little messed up in CAS as you can only edit two forms. The problem is that hybrids have more than two forms and this confuses the game UI. Many players confirmed this:

I personally got a mermaid and a vampire together thinking if they’ll have child it will either be a mermaid or a vampire but I was wrong, it gave me an unplayable hybrid. Things are fine up until the child reaches teenage-hood. When my sim fully developed her vampires form she was also a mermaid but had no hydration bar, only regulars + vampire energy but no vampire upgrade accessible. The CAS is a mess.

What do mermaids and vampires have in common?

Mermaids and vampires do have a few things in common. They both possess supernatural abilities. However, mermaids’ supernatural powers are not as feature-rich as those of vampires. Perhaps the most interesting and fun to play with power is the ability to change the mood of other Sims. For mermaids, being mean to other Sims is a necessary evil since they replenish their status bar when other Sims become stressed, uncomfortable or confused.

Perhaps the most interesting ability that mermaids have is the Summon Ocean Threat ability. Mermaids can use this ability to lure unsuspecting Sims into the ocean and then trap them in a sort of black hole that will dunk them underwater.

Just like mermaids, vampires can play with the mood and the minds of other Sims. For example, they can use the Vampiric Charm ability to make other Sims feel attracted to them. Another useful ability is Command. As its name suggests, this ability allows vampires to control other Sims and force them to do various actions such as cleaning the house, repairing objects, interacting with other Sims, and more.

Conclusion

As tempting as creating a vampire-mermaid hybrid might be, the best approach is to avoid that. The game doesn’t not support hybrids and while it’s possible to create vampire-mermaid hybrids, these Sims will become unplayable as soon as they’ve become teenagers.
