How to Keep Horses Out of Your Sims 4 House

Sims-4-Prevent-Horses-from-Entering-House

Got horses popping into your Sim’s house like unexpected guests? Here’s why it’s happening and how to fix it.

Why Do Horses Invade Houses in The Sims 4?

The behavior you’re seeing in The Sims 4 with horses entering houses can be tied to the game’s design. In the game, barns built for horses are classified under the same category as houses.

The developers included this feature because they wanted to give players the flexibility to create barns for their horses, which require the horses to be able to enter these structures.

However, this seems to have had the unintended side effect of making horses think they can enter any house, not just their barns.

It’s likely that the game’s AI doesn’t perfectly distinguish between a barn designated for horses and a Sim’s living quarters, hence the confusion and the equine intruders.

How to Prevent Horses From Entering Your House in The Sims 4

Lock Your Doors

To prevent horses from entering your house in The Sims 4, you can simply lock the doors for all horses.  Click on the entry doors of your Sim’s house and look for the option to “Lock Door For…”. Among the available choices, you should find an option specifically for horses.

Select it, and your equine friends will no longer be able to trot into your living space.

This should keep your home human-only, or at least, horse-free!

While The Sims 4 offers a “Lock Door For…” feature that should, in theory, keep your neighing neighbors outside, some players have reported a pesky glitch

If you’re experiencing trouble with horses entering your house in The Sims 4 even after you’ve locked the doors for them, you’re not alone.

The door-locking feature, which works fine for smaller farm animals, is not consistently preventing horses from coming inside.

Elevate Your Home

If you’re at your wit’s end with horses treating your Sim’s living room like their personal barn, despite locking doors, we’ve got a trick straight from the horse’s mouth.

Well, not literally, but you get the idea.

Raising your home off the ground with stairs seems to be an effective deterrent against these four-legged trespassers. Add at least 2 stairsteps to keep horses at bay.

By simply adding stairs and elevating your house, you create a barrier that horses haven’t yet learned to navigate.

Update Your Game

Sometimes, the simplest solutions can be the most effective. Make sure your game is fully updated.

Some players have noticed that after updating their game with the latest patches, the issue with horses entering the house has been resolved.

It turns out that an update might just be the key to keeping those horses out for good.

So, before you start remodeling your Sim’s home or sending in a bug report, it’s worth checking for any available updates that could iron out this stable snafu.

So, there you have it — keep your game updated, and use those door locks and stairs to maintain a horse-free home.
