Remember when we shared all those tips and tricks about growing a money tree in Sims 4? That was all about making sure you could rake in as much cash as possible when your tree was all grown up.
But here’s the thing – some players never even make it to the harvest, because their money tree kicks the bucket during germination or not long after.
So, in this guide, we’re gonna tell you why that might happen and how to stop it from happening to you.
After all, you’re shelling out a cool 5,000 Simoleons for a money tree seed, right? We definitely don’t want that going to waste!
Why your Money Tree fails to germinate
If you plant your Money Tree in an indoor planter box in the wrong location, it may fail to germinate. If you neglect to regularly water the Money Tree, remove the weeds, and fertilize it, the plant won’t thrive and will eventually die.
If your Money Tree isn’t germinating, try planting it outdoors first to initiate the germination process. Once it begins to sprout, you can then relocate it back to the indoor planter box using Build/Buy mode.
Once the little dirt circle appears, go into Build/Buy mode and move the money tree to the planter box.
The tree should grow without any further issues.
Money trees require at least some basic gardening in order to keep growing. If you really want your plant to thrive, you need to apply some fertilizer from time to time as well.
What’s the best fertilizer for money trees in The Sims 4?
The best fertilizer to help your money trees thrive is fish that cost over 50 Simoleons such as Tuna, Salmon, Wolf Eel, Sturgeon, and Mountain Lionfish.
Just make sure that fish is fresh as the freshness significantly affects the strength of the fertilizer: the fresher the fish, the stronger the fertilizer will be.
But basically any fish that cost over $100 Simoleons will still count as a high-strength fertilizer even when foul.
If you can’t use expensive fertilizers, high strength fertilizers that cost between 20 to 49 Simoleons will do as well. We don’t recommend using fish that cost more than 300 Simileons as fertilizers. You should sell rare fish for money instead.
If you need to fertilize your money tree every day or every two days, this indicates you’re not using the best fertilizer.
Instead, try to use a fertilizer that lasts three days or more. Keep in mind that you need to be at Level 3 Gardening in order to be able to apply fertilizers.
How to grow a Money Tree on the balcony
If you want to grow your money trees on the balcony, use a planter box or planter bowl for that purpose and place it close to the edge of the balcony. Keep in mind that the money tree takes about one week to grow.
If there are any heatwaves, make sure to protect your money tree. If the plant is exposed too high temperatures for too long it will eventually die in just a couple of days.
Happy Simming!
