On average, it takes 2 to 4 Sim days for your Sim’s tan to wear off, depending on how long they sunbathed. If you want your Sim to get a nice tan, you need to stop sunbathing once the Sunkissed moodlet appears on the screen otherwise they risk getting sunburnt.

When your Sim is about to get sunburnt, the Starting to Burn moodlet will appear on the screen. At this stage, you can still save your Sim from getting severe sunburns. If you stop sunbathing immediately and you manage to find some shade, all will be well.

On the contrary, if you continue to expose your Sim to direct sunlight, they will get some nasty sunburns and their mood will be altered for the next 5 hours.

The shape of your Sim’s outfit dictates the tan line model that will appear on your Sim’s body. If you don’t like the current sun lines, you can simply bathe again in the sun.
