The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature: Ailments Are Contagious

Sims-4-Creation-Impulse-Ailment.

Ailments are a major feature of the Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature pack and can spread from Sim to Sim. They’re contagious, so just being near an infected Sim might be enough to catch one.

Malicious fairies can give your Sim an ailment on purpose, and having a low emotional balance also increases the chances of getting sick.

There are eight different ailments in total, and each one comes with its own mix of benefits and drawbacks.

  • Burning Passion
  • Creation Impulse
  • Emotional Void
  • Gnome Lure
  • Greeny Neenie
  • Luck Magnet
  • Simoleon Fever
  • Sonic Sinuses

Ailments are easy to spot visually—Sims’ skin changes, and various effects help you get the diagnosis right quickly, especially if you’re playing the Naturopath career.

How Ailments Affect Sims 4 Gameplay

Ailment Effect Pros Cons Cure Ingredients
Burning Passion Sims overheat and may set objects aflame by coughing. May cause a Flirty mood. Can start fires at an enemy’s house. Flirty mood can boost romance. Risk of burning valued items or awkward flirting. Aura Petal x2, Sage x2
Emotional Void Sims struggle to feel strong emotions and suppress them in others. Useful in stressful settings (Haunted Houses, anger triggers, etc.). Hard to get Inspired or motivated—bad for creative work or dating. Aura Petal x2, Basil x1
Gnome Lure Random Gnomes spawn around the sim. Gnomes can be enchanted to help clean and repair. Disrespecting Gnomes can cause mischief or destruction. Daisy x1, Lemon x2
Greenie Meanie Increases Anger and mean actions, but boosts Gardening Skill. Excellent for efficient gardening and farm work. Can damage relationships with friends or family due to aggressive behavior. Aura Petal x1, Basil x3

Creation Impulse Grants a Dazed moodlet but boosts quality of crafted items. Enhances quality for crafting careers or hobbies. Dazed mood lowers motivation and energy; sims may prefer to nap. Aura Petal x1, Daisy x3
Sonic Sinuses Explosive sneezes destroy nearby objects, but Handiness Skill improves. Repairs and upgrades are faster and more efficient. Risk of breaking things regularly—unpredictable destruction. Daisy x1, Sage x2

Sims 4 Sonic Sinuses Ailment

When a Sim catches Simoleon Fever, they start coughing. But instead of just looking sick, they cough up Simoleons. If the sickness lasts a while, it can drain a lot of money.

How to Cure Ailments in The Sims 4

There are five ways to cure an ailment in this pack:

  • Wait it out – Ailments expire on their own after about 3 in-game days.
  • Craft a cure – Use the apothecary table to make a remedy (requires the right ingredients).
  • Pay a naturopath – Costs 1,500 Simolents.
  • Ask a Fairy to cure the ailment – Fairies with healing powers can cure ailments (usually say yes).
  • Manifest relief at Moondrop Springs – A rare and low-chance option, but free if it works.

These are all viable options, but some are easier or cheaper than others, depending on your Sim’s situation.

At Apothecary Level 10, your Sim can cure all ills with Holistic Cure or block them entirely with Celestial Protection.

You Can’t Disable Ailments

You cannot turn off ailments in The Sims 4 if you have Enchanted by Nature installed. There is no game setting to stop them from occurring.

Any Sim in any world can get them as long as the Enchanted by Nature pack is installed.

Ailments are intrusive and do more than just give uncomfortable moodlets. They also cost more to cure and have stronger effects on Sims’ behavior and skills.

Ailments can quickly get annoying. Over time, they turn into just another problem to deal with. They seem to pop up a lot.

For example, getting an ailment almost every other day while sleeping outside can make the Natural Living skill feel more like a hassle than a fun challenge.
