You need to install TOOL, Better BuildBuy, and MCCC to edit the exterior of your apartment in The Sims 4.
You cannot edit the exterior parts of apartment buildings in Sims 4 without mods. The game doesn’t let you change any of the exterior walls or windows. You can only change the interior design of your individual apartment.
You can add new furniture, and customize most of the design elements to your liking.
If you want to completely redesign the interior of your apartment, you can simply bulldoze everything. All the interior walls will be removed and you can change the whole design.
Using the bulldoze option won’t change anything in the exterior. Many Simmers really hate this limitation.
Well, I also have a piece of good news for you.
If you’re not opposed to modding, you can use TOOL, Better BuildBuy, and MCCC to delete objects that would normally remain in place when using the bulldoze option, such as pipes.
The bad news is that your options are still limited. You can’t use these mods to change the entire exterior structure of the building. However, you can change the windows and doors without any problem.
How to edit apartment exterior in Sims 4
You need to install TOOL, Better BuildBuy, and MCCC to use this method.
First, enable cheats. To do that, press Ctrl, Shift, and C, type in testingcheats true, and press Enter. Type in bb.moveobjects on and bb.showhiddenobjects on.
Make sure to hit Enter after each command.
Shift and click on the stubborn objects you want to remove and select Destroy Object (Debug).
If you’ve never used MCCC before, you need to go to Settings and enable this option. The Destroy Object option is disabled by default.
Here are the steps to follow to enable MCCC Destroy Object:
- Click on your Sim’s computer
- Select MC Command Center
- Go to MCCC Settings
- Select Notification/Console/Menu Settings
- Go to Console Comand Settings
- Select Debug Commands in Cheats
- Enable this option
- Restart your game
How to change your apartment windows in Sims 4 City Living
If you want to change the windows of your apartment in The Sims 4, use MCCC Destroy Object to remove existing windows.
Use the Wall Tool and build a three-tile interior wall just one tile away from the exterior wall with the window.
Then, select your new window and place it on the interior wall you just built.
Press Shift and T to bring up the TOOL Extension. Make sure to enable the BetterBuildBuy and Tool activation.
Click on the Move button and enter 0.-1 in the Move (X, Y) field. The mod will take your new window and place it on the exterior wall.
You can now inactivate the window you just placed on the exterior wall and delete the interior wall you initially used to place your window on.
