After making lots of money in Sims 4 Cottage Living, you can upgrade your farm. But if you decide to buy a new lot and build a new house to move into, moving your animals is not that simple.
This is because the game considers farm animals are objects.
That’s why your chickens disappear from your household inventory when the Finchwick Fair ends.
If you want to move to a new house without losing your animals, follow the steps below.
How to move with animals to a new house in The Sims 4 Cottage Living
1. Move your animals into your inventory
First of all, you need to move all of your animals into your inventory. Click on each animal, in turn, to get the job done. You can then move them from the inventory to your new farm.
2. Assign animals from the inventory to an empty shed
Click on an empty shed on the new farm, and select “Assign to shed” to move your animals from the inventory to the new shed. The game should give you the option of all cows and llamas in your inventories.
This includes the animals in the world. If somehow the option is not available, buy a new shed and try again.
Chickens still age while in your personal inventory
Keep in mind that chickens will age while they’re in your personal inventory. If you keep chickens in the inventory for too long, it may be too late for them when you bring them back into the real world.
They’ll soon die of old age.
Don’t click on “Sell furniture”
If your new house is already furnished, you might be tempted to sell the furniture of your old house. However, don’t hit the “Sell furniture” option right away.
The game considers farm animals are objects. This means you’ll sell them too if you use that option.
What if I already clicked on “Sell furniture”?
If you already clicked the “Sell furniture” option before moving all of your animals to your inventory, you need to go back to an older save. You can then progress with the house move by moving your animals to your inventory first.
Save your game before or after anything important happens to be able to restore your progress in case the game glitches.
As a quick reminder, The Sims 4 automatically generates several backups for your save files. The game has your last five saves available as recovery files.
