For some Sims, going to school is a nightmare. Just as in real life, your Sim may sometimes refuse to go to school. In this guide, I’ll explain why this happens and what you can do to fix it.
Why Is My Sim Refusing to Go to School?
Issues like corrupted school outfits, incompatible mods, or physical obstacles can stop your Sim from going to school.
Fixes:
To resolve this, try moving the Mods folder, changing the school outfit, relocating the Sim, removing obstacles, or re-entering the game.
Let’s get into the details.
Fix 1: Change the Location of Your Mods Folder
When something doesn’t work right in the game, the first thing to check is the Mods folder. Move the Mods folder to your desktop and then launch the game again. If the problem persists, try removing all Custom Content or Mods.
Fix 2: Get a New School Outfit
If your Sim doesn’t like the current outfit, especially if they’re moody, they may refuse to go to school. Make sure this is not the root cause of the problem by getting your Sim a new school outfit.
You’d be surprised to learn how many bugs a corrupted outfit may cause.
Fix 3: Move Your Sim to a New Home
Another potential solution is to move your Sim to a new home and see if they go to school in the new location. Alternatively, you can also move them back to the original home and test if this time they agree to go to school.
Or you can travel to a different lot with your Sim, and try to send them to school from there.
Fix 4: Check for Obstacles
Make sure nothing is preventing your Sim from leaving the house. If there is something in their way, such as misplaced stairs or a command from mom and dad, your Sim won’t be able to leave the house.
If there are design issues with your house, you may need to reconsider where things should be placed. For example, redesign the house to make the stairs accessible or remove any elements blocking access to the front door.
Fix 5: Enter the Game Again
If this issue is caused by game file glitches, going back to the main menu and entering the game again should do the trick. Remember to save the game first to avoid losing any progress.
These five solutions should help you fix this problem for good. However, if your Sim still refuses to leave the house and go to school, make sure this is not a known bug.
