Sony’s PS5 console is a technology master piece, there’s no doubt about that. But there’s one thing that’s been driving many users crazy ever since day one. The console seems to re-copy the game content every time you turn it off and come back to it later to play your favorite games. In other words, it keeps on copying or reinstalling the game content.
Why is PS5 always copying game content?
When one of your games gets a new patch, your console copies the game again while downloading and installing the patch. In other words, when your PS5 installs the latest game updates, it automatically copies the game again to prevent file corruption.
The problem is that the whole process may take up to a couple of hours, depending on the size of the game. This means you can’t play your favorite games during all this time. That’s one possible explanation but it’s not the only one.
Don’t select Copy when you insert the game disc
When you put in the disc, do not manually select “Copy” to launch the process. The idea is to wait for the transfer to start on its own. Let your PS5 install everything by itself and don’t select the Copy option. Alternatively, leave the disc in to avoid getting that copying message every time you insert your game disc.
Install all additional packs
Another way to bypass this problem is to install all the packs and add-ons available for your game. This method resolved the copying nightmare for many gamers.
For example, if you’re playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, install the Campaign Pack 1 and 2 and that should do the trick. Do that with all the additional installation packs and add-ons you need for your game. Hopefully, this will allow you to play your games without any problems.
Many CoD: Modern Warfare players confirmed that installing the campaign packs worked. Although the console may still display the “Copying game content” message, the alert should disappear after 5 or 10 seconds.
Use Rest Mode
As a workaround, you can stay in the game and put your PS5 in Rest Mode. We know that’s not the ideal option taken into account all the glitches and errors the Rest Mode may potentially cause. But this method did the trick for some gamers and it might work for you as well.
Which method worked for you? Let us know in the comments below.
