PS4 controllers are very reliable tools. You can play for thousands of hours without any problems. Just like any other piece of hardware, they sometimes break or fail to function smoothly.
One of the most common issues regarding PS4/ DualShock controllers is stuttering. This issue usually affects the right stick since most players are right-handed.
So, if your DualShock 4 jitters or your PS4 left analog stick is not working properly, keep reading this article to learn what you can do to fix it.
How to Fix PS4 Controller Jitters
Fix 1 – Check for dust particles
Dust may block your controller’s sticks, so make sure to strike this possible cause off the list. Lift up the stick and blow some air into the little gap. Then put the stick back in its place and check if this fixed the problem.
You can also use a non-alcoholic wipe to clean the controller and then a microfiber cloth to dry it. But don’t press too hard on the buttons when you’re wiping down the controller.
Keep in mind that dust and dirt can cause your controller to misbehave. Make sure to clean your controllers regularly to avoid such issues.
Fix 2 – Connect the controller via USB
If the issue occurs when using a wireless controller, try connecting it to your console via a USB cable. Cable connections are known to be more stable and less prone to interferences of all kinds than wireless connections.
Fix 3 – Change sensitivity settings
If the USB cable connection failed to fix the problem, try changing your Wireless Controller Sensitivity from the Options menu. The default sensitivity setting is 5.0, so play a bit with the sensitivity level to see if that makes any difference.
Fix 4 – Replace the sensors
If you’re comfortable taking your controller apart, try replacing its analog stick sensors. If you’re not, have a professional do that for you.
Fix 5 – Get a new controller
Well, if nothing worked, maybe it’s time to get a new controller. If the hardware degraded, there is nothing you can do to fix the stuttering and jittering, except for replacing the old controller.
We hope something worked.
