Error 29 is an infamous Pokemon GO error code that kicks players out of the game when they try to engage in a gym battle. This error code will keep on popping on the screen from the next 10 minutes — basically, every time players attempt to battle in the same gym.
Many players are already familiar with this scenario:
This morning I was battling a Gym. Kicked out 2 of the 3 Pokémon on there. After the big GO before the 3rd battle I got the Error 29 kicking me out of the Gym. After 10 minutes still not able to battle. Anyone else still getting this error?
Fixing this error is not that simple and requires a lot of patience. To help you out, we compiled a list of potential fixes that could help you get rid of this error. Keep in mind that some of these solutions may not necessarily work for all gamers but we hope that at least one of these workarounds will fix the problem.
How to Fix Pokemon GO Error 29 Gym Battle
1. Don’t use the Photo Disk
Some players suggested that spinning the gym’s Photo Disk could cause this error. So, you should avoid using the Photo Disk just in case.
2. Try a different gym
Other players reported that they managed to get rid of this error by visiting a different gym. Do try out this method and tell us if it worked for you as well.
I’ve found that if there’s another gym nearby, fighting the other one once, will fix the error 29 issue on the first gym.
3. Close the game and wait for 15 minutes
If nothing worked, press the home button on your phone and close the app. Although this is not a proper workaround per se, it could however restore the functionality of the gym and let you continue your gaming session.
After you closed the app, wait for about 15 minutes and then launch Pokemon Go again.
It appears that error 29 occurs because the game thinks you’re still in battle mode even after you left the battle.
4. Get out of the gym after every battle
It seems that error 29 occurs more frequently when users visit one gym after another. So, in this case, the best solution is to simply exit the gym after you’ve defeated the first Pokemon. When you are asked if you want to continue playing the game and battle the next Pokemon, simply exit the game. Then enter the gym again.
5. Change your line-up
Changing your line-up from the previous one you used may also help you fix this error code. Keep in mind that you should also change the pokemons you didn’t use.

I keep getting error 6 when I’m battling another trainer. It won’t even let me in. After that the error 6 pops up on my screen every few seconds. It’s super annoying. Anyone out there that can help??
