Can I play League of Legends on Mac?
Whether you have an Intel or M1 processor on your Mac, you can play League of Legends without any issues. There’s an official version of the game specifically made for macOS. Regardless of your Mac’s processor type, you can enjoy playing League of Legends on your computer.
If you want to play League of Legends on a MacBook powered by an M1 processor, you need to set the game to use Metal graphic. Go to advanced system settings, and under Graphics API, change the option to Metal.
Can I play League of Legends on a MacBook Air?
MacBook Air 2017 and newer should run League of Legends at a decent 60 FPS on Medium settings most of the time. The game does not require much computational power, so even a MacBook Air should be able to run it.
Keep in mind that you may be pushing the graphics card to its maximum sometimes which means you may experience stability and overhearing issues.
But if you’re willing to trade quality for stability, you can play LoL on Low settings on your MacBook Air.
Does League of Legends work on Mac Catalina?
MacOS Catalina does not currently support League of Legends. This means you can’t install the game on a MacBook running Catalina.

- Download the LoL client Mac installer from Riot.
- Click and drag the League of Legends app icon in the Applications folder
- Launch the installer
- Follow the on-screen instructions given by the setup wizard and keep on clicking Next
- Wait until League of Legends and the patcher finish the installation of the game client
- Press the Launch button to open the game client
- The game client will download all the other game files necessary
- Once the download is complete, log in to the client and you can start playing LoL.
