NBA 2K may sometimes display an error message saying ‘Your user account is under the age requirement, or has not been created‘. What’s even more confusing is that gamers who previously played the game just fine, now suddenly get this error. That’s why we decided to write this guide and talk about the age requirements for playing NBA 2K.
How Old Do You Have to Be to Play NBA 2K?
In order to play NBA 2K MyCareer, you need to be 18 years old. If your account is under the age requirement, you’ll get an error message.
On the other hand, if your account is managed by another person, ask them to check the age-related information they entered. If the information is incorrect, ask them to edit it.
Fix NBA 2K Your Account is Under the Age Requirement
If your player account clearly states you’re over 18, yet NBA 2K still says your account is under the age requirement, use the troubleshooting methods below.
Fix 1. Sign out. After you do that, wait two minutes. Then sign back in.
Fix 2. Go to the Connect menu. There’s a quick in-game fix for NBA 2K age errors.
- Go to the game menu, and scroll to the last selection, which is Connect.
- Register your age and email. And that’s it.
The Connect menu is located near the Settings/Features menu.
Fix 3. Clear the cache. Irrespective of the platform you’re using to play NBA 2K, clear the cache and restart your device.
Fix 4. Switch Xbox Live privacy settings to Adults defaults. Here are the steps to follow if you’re getting the error on Xbox:
- Go to Settings -> Account -> Family Settings.
- Add a family member, and make sure it’s over 18.
- Go to Manage family members. Then add the account that’a too young and triggered the age error.
- Select that account and go to Privacy & Online Safety -> Xbox Live Privacy.
- Then switch to Adult Defaults.
Fix 5. Change the birthday. This method consists of several steps.
- But first, you need to remove your Xbox One Account.
- Then perform a power cycle. Meanwhile, go to your developer/publisher account and make sure it meets the age criterion.
- Next, go to the problematic account’s settings and change the birthday information.
- You can now re-add the account to your Xbox console.
We hope the error is gone now and you can play NBA 2K MyCareer.
