NBA 2K: How to Change The Shot Meter

NBA 2K shot meter

If you want to change the shot meter in NBA 2K but you don’t know how to do that, follow the steps in this guide and you’ll get the job done.

Steps to Change Shot Meter Settings in NBA 2K

  • Step 1 – Open the main menu and go to controller settings
  • Step 2– Scroll down to Shot Meter options
  • Step 3 – Select one of the three options available: turn the shot meter on, turn it off or change it to Free Throws Only.

You can also access these three options mid-game by pausing the game and selecting Options, and then Controller Settings.

Practice Makes Perfect 🎮

It does take a while until players get used to the new NBA 2K shooting system. As always, practice makes perfect.

Go in the “Play Now” menu and enter the freestyle mode to improve your skills. Choose a team, get a shooter and start practicing to get used to the new shot meter.

Can I use the shot meter from NBA 2K20 in NBA 2K?

NBA 2K does not currently support using the shot meter from NBA 2K20 or other previous releases of the game. There are only three options supported: enable, disable the shot meter, or use only free throws.

In previous NBA 2K game releases, the shot meter was a vertical curve. When the curve became green, that indicated that was a perfectly timed shot. In NBA 2K, there’s now a horizontal meter above your shooter.

Best Shooting Tips for NBA 2K

  • Disable Shoot Aiming by going into Options > Controller Settings > set Shot Aiming to Off. This will bring back the Shot Timing on Pro Stick.
  • Pay attention and tap the left trigger just at the ideal release time to get a boost.
  • If you’re using the Shot Button, disabling the Shot Meter will give you a boost.
  • Zoom your camera in if you still don’t like the new shot meter. Although this reduces court visibility, it allows for more control over the shooting and RS aiming.
  • If you’re playing in MyCareer, upgrade the shooting Badges and your players will shoot better.

And now you know.
