Frey is the main character of Forspoken. After finding herself transported to the mysterious land of Athia, she embarks on a quest to go back home.
But in order to do that, she first needs to defeat the Tantas.
Frey tends to mistrust everyone she meets. That’s understandable if you think she’s been in and out of foster homes in New York City. Her life hasn’t been easy.
Shortly after arriving in Athia, the Tantas accuse her of trespassing their realm and declare her an enemy.
After this unfortunate event, Frey has no choice but to fight and defeat the three Tantas if she wants to return home.
In her quest, she benefits from Cuff’s help. Cuff is a sentient bracelet that acts as her guide in this magical land. They communicate telepathically.
Frey’s past is quite mysterious. You’ll discover additional pieces of the puzzle as you advance into the game.
Who are Frey’s parents?
Frey is the daughter of Tanta Cinta and a New Yorker. In other words, she is the daughter of a sorceress and a mortal.
Tanta Cinta was the Tanta of Love and would often travel between Athia and Earth using a magical gateway called a Torana.
During one of her trips to Earth, she fell in love with a New Yorker. She got pregnant and gave birth to Frey despite the fact that Tantas were forbidden from having children.
Think of Athia as Frey’s playground. Her magical powers were dormant on Earth but she can level them up in Athia after coming of age.
Interestingly, Frey can resist the Break, a plague that wiped out 99 percent of Athia’s population. The same Break turned the Tantas into evil creatures.
One of your main tasks as a player is to level up Frey’s skills and abilities. Help her learn new spells and unlock new parkour skills to quickly navigate the world of Athia.
Unfortunately, one of Frey’s defining character traits, namely her lack of trust in strangers proves to be right by the end of the game.
Cuff, her loyal guide, reveals his true colors and Frey realizes he has been deceiving her the entire time.
